Welcome to Sierra High School, home of the Stallions. The staff here is dedicated to providing your child with a quality education. While we have come far as a district, we still have a long way to go. The new district action plan calls for a renewed focus on college and career readiness. This means that we will no longer promote students who are not proficient; we will offer students differentiated diplomas, recognizing those students who put in the work that it takes to be college-ready; we will increase the opportunities for our students to earn college credits in order to combat the ever-growing expenses of college.
Our student’s success depends on us. Our expectations must be higher than ever. We must expect that students attend our classes every day. We must expect that they follow building and district policies. We must expect that they do the work that we ask them to do at the level that we expect it to be done.
Our student’s expectations of us are equally high. They expect that we will not let them skip classes. They expect that we will maintain a safe and orderly learning environment. They expect that we will not settle for mediocrity. They expect that we will offer rigorous, engaging lessons, call home, spend time with them after school and on weekends, and attend their extra-curricular events. They expect that we care enough to do what is best for them, and they trust that we are guiding them on the right path.
The upcoming year will be challenging, but rewarding. Working together, we will ensure that Sierra graduates take with them both a sense of pride for a job well done, and a confidence in what lies ahead. I am looking forward to the school year and the opportunity to work with your students. Buckle up! Thrusters on Full!
